Notes:

1.

Students are eligible to purchase, install and use this software on personally owned or leased computers under our existing software license agreement.

Students whose primary campus is the University of Utah Asia Campus are not eligible to purchase, install or use this software except when enrolled in and attending classes in North America.

2.

Faculty and Staff are eligible to purchase, install and use this software on personally owned or leased computers under our existing software license agreement.

Faculty and Staff whose primary employment location is the University of Utah Asia Campus are not eligible to purchase, install or use this software except during employment and working in North America.

3.

Faculty and Staff are eligible to purchase, install and use this software on university owned or leased computers and this software may be used for academic and commercial purposes by campus and hospital employees.

You are limited to 1 computer per license. If you need to install the software on multiple computers, you need to purchase a license for every computer you need to install the software on.

Eligible Students, Faculty and Staff may purchase Eset annual licenses from the OSL web store.
  1. Go to the Eset web site for business licenses
  2. Verify you are on the For Business tab.
  3. Find the product you need and click on the '+' sign to expand the product you need.
  4. Choose I have a license.
  5. Select the operating system and language, and then click on Download.
    • Installer with AV Remover: recommended for most users; will remove anti-virus software you have installed.
    • Installer without AV Remover: use if you are using Eset Remote Administrator to deploy to your client computers.
  6. If prompted, confirm you would like to save the file.
  7. Wait for the download to finish.
  1. Go to where you saved the file (usually the Download folder).
  2. Open/Run the install file.
  3. When prompted, enter the license key (or username and password.)
  4. Wait for the installation to finish.
  5. The software should update the virus definitions after installation is complete.

Your license key or Eset-issued username & password are on your email confirmation or your web receipt on the OSL web store. If you don't know how or where to obtain that information, refer to these instructions.

  1. Locate your license key.
  2. Open your Eset software.
  3. Click on Protection Status.
  4. Click on Enter new license information.
  5. Enter the license key in the field provided.
  6. Click on the Activate button.
  1. This process requires an internet connection.
  2. Locate your Eset-issued username (EAV-xxxxxxxxxx) & password.
  3. Open your Eset software.
  4. Press COMMAND + U  (Mac) or CTRL + U (Windows) to open the username and password setup window.
  5. Enter your the username and password exactly as they are written:
    • The username and password are case sensitive
    • The hyphen in the username is necessary
    • The password is ten characters long and all lowercase
    • If you are copying and pasting, make sure you don't select an extra blank space
    • We do not use the letter L in passwords (use the number one (1) instead)
    • A big '0' is the number zero (0); a little 'o' is the lowercase letter o
  6. Press 'OK' and wait for the program to update (usually less than 5 minutes.)

The serial number file is provided when you purchase a node/client license. If you have purchased single user licenses and want to utilize the Remote Administrator, send a message to software@utah.edu with your order number and request the license file.

Additional support is available on the Eset web site. If you get assistance from an Eset representative, you need the Eset-issued username  (EAV-xxxxxxxxxx.)
