For an explanation of terminology used throughout the OSL website, please visit our Glossary of Terms.

When followed, these instructions will guide you through the process of:

  • associating with the campus MATLAB TAH license
  • downloading the software products from the MathWorks License Center website
  • installing the software
  • activating the license

Purchase the MATLAB Annual License from the OSL web store

Purchase a concurrent user for every user who will be using the software simultaneously on the server.

If you are experienced with using the FlexNet® license manager, you can use this procedure to integrate the latest license manager daemons into an existing configuration.

  1. Download the zip file for your platform from License Manager Download on the MathWorks website.
  2. Shut down the license manager, if it is running. See Start the License Manager for more information.
  3. Extract the files from the zip file to the license manager folder. The default location for the license manager files is the matlabroot\etc\$ARCH folder, where matlabroot is your MATLAB® installation folder and $ARCH is a platform-specific subfolder.
  4. Restart the license manager and configure it as needed.

The tasks you perform to set up client computers in the Campus License depends on how you expect end users to access the software.

  1. If you want end users to run the software locally on their own computers, you must install the software on each computer, or let the end users perform the installations themselves. Client installations do not require activation. End users need the File Installation Key to install the software. They also need the location of the License File on the license server that the license manager uses when you start it. For instructions, see the installation documentation.
  2. If you want end users to run the software on the server over the network, you do not need to perform installations on each computer. Instead, you can give end users a desktop shortcut to the network location of the software.

When you install MathWorks products, the installation includes a utility program that can speed up MATLAB startup, called the MATLAB Startup Accelerator. By default, the installer configures this utility as a scheduled task on your computer that runs several times each day. (For information about changing this default behavior, see Install Without Configuring the MATLAB Startup Accelerator.)
