1. Students are NOT eligible to purchase, install or use this software on personally owned or leased computers under our existing software license agreement.
2. Faculty and Staff are NOT eligible to purchase, install or use this software on personally owned or leased computers under our existing software license agreement.

Faculty and Staff are eligible to purchase, install and use this software ONLY on university owned or leased computers and this software may be used for academic and commercial purposes.

Faculty and Staff whose primary employment location is the University of Utah Asia Campus are not eligible to purchase, install or use this software except during employment and working in North America.

The current version of this software is 14.

The license is perpetual which means it has no expiration date. However, the maintenance on the software expires at the end on the first licensing term and needs to be renewed annually to continue receiving the benefits of the maintenance.

If you currently have maintenance on your Symantec license, then you are eligible to renew the maintenance on the license for the next licensing term.

It entitles you to more than just being able to contact Technical Support by telephone or logging a case online. A valid maintenance provides you with coverage for the quantity of software licenses you own for a finite period of time (usually one year). Benefits include:

  • Delivery of important software updates ensure that your product works optimally and is kept up to date with the latest technology innovations and improvements.
  • The ability to upgrade to the latest software versions free of charge so you can avoid financial surprises when you need to upgrade.
  • Guaranteed access to Symantec’s technical expertise gives you peace of mind when you need it most.

You will no longer be able to receive the benefits included with maintenance. Product and content updates will stop being delivered to your product installation. If you choose to upgrade to a future version of the product, you will be required to repurchase your product license to establish your right to the latest version. You will no longer be able to call technical support or log technical support cases online via MySymantec.

No. You can let the maintenance lapse but then you will not be entitled to any updates, upgrades or technical support.

No. Maintenance is included for the first licensing term of the license.

License maintenance for the licensing term from 07/01/2018 through 06/30/2019 is now available on the OSL web store.
