Planner & Project Plan 5 Instructions

How to Access

Option 1: Use Planner and Project in your browser

  1. Go to https://www.office.com
  2. Sign in with your work account (uNID@utah.edu)
  3. Open the app launcher (waffle menu) and select:
    • Planner (for task management and team collaboration)
    • Project (for project planning)

You can also access them directly:

Option 2: Install the Project desktop app (optional)

  1. Go to https://portal.office.com/account
  2. Select My Account > Apps & devices
  3. Locate Project and select Install

Note: If Project is not listed, select Other install options or check https://www.microsoft365.com under your apps.

What’s Included with Plan 5

In addition to Planner and Project for the web, Project Plan 5 includes:

  • Advanced project and portfolio management features
  • Demand management and resource capacity planning
  • Portfolio analysis and reporting capabilities
  • The Project desktop app for advanced scheduling and resource management

Getting Started

  • Planner is best for lightweight task tracking and team collaboration
  • Project for the web supports structured planning with timelines, dependencies, and roadmaps
  • Project Plan 5 adds advanced portfolio and resource management tools for larger, more complex projects
  • Plans and files can be shared via OneDrive or SharePoint for collaboration
