Currently enrolled students taking credit awarding classes are eligible to purchase, install and use this software on personally owned or leased computers solely for academic non-profit, non-commercial, educational and research purposes. Any other use is strictly prohibited. Students are allowed to install one copy of this software on one personally owned computer. Students whose primary campus is the University of Utah Asia Campus are not eligible to purchase, install or use this software except when enrolled in and attending classes in North America. |

Product information
Origin is a software application for data analysis and publication-quality graphing, tailored to the needs of scientists and engineers. The application offers an easy-to-use interface for beginners, and the ability for advanced users to customize analysis and graphing tasks using themes, templates, custom reports, batch processing and programming.
OriginPro offers all of the features of Origin plus extended analysis tools.

Obtaining OriginPro
Purchase OriginPro from the Software Catalog
License expiration
Our license is an annual subscription that willl expire at the end of June, regardless of when you purchase it. If you have purchased an OriginPro license, check your order summary on the Office of Software Licensing software catalog for the license term.
A new annual license must be purchased to continue using the software for each licensing
term.
Our license includes maintenance, which provides you with free upgrades and/or technical support.
Serial number and product key
Single user licenses
The serial number and product key are listed on your order summary. The product key is found in the Serial Number section and the OriginLab serial number is found in the Installation Instructions of your order summary.
To obtain this informaiton, follow these instruxtions:
- Sign into the Software Catalog.
- Select ORDER HISTORY.
- Select Search Order History.
- Enter the search terms and select the type of terms (product name, order number, Org ID (university licenses), or date range), and select SEARCH.
- Select the order number to see your order summary.
Concurrent user licenses
Contact the Campus IT Help Desk (801-581-4000 or helpdesk@utah.edu) with your order number and request your concurrent license key:
- OSL order number
- Server Hostname
- Server Host ID
- Current serial number (if the purchase is a renewal)
Activation
Follow the activation instructions License Activation Instructions for End-Users available on the Origin Lab website.
Remote use
Faculty and staff may install and use a university license on a personally owned computer provided:
- you purchase a new license for that purpose.
- you install and use the software solely on computers that are owned or leased by the University of Utah and paid for with university funds and/or computers that are personally owned or leased by you.
- you register the license using a valid email address ending with utah.edu.
- you are the sole user of the software.
- you only access the software on one computer at a time, not simultaneously on multiple computers.
- you are only using the software for work related academic and work related non-commercial purposes.
Transfer your license to a new computer
Follow the deactivation instructions available on the Origin Lab website.
If you are unable to deactivate the license, contact the Campus Help Desk (801-581-4000 or helpdesk@utah.edu) and include the following information:
- Your first and last name
- OSL order number
- Product key
- Email address you used to register your license
- HostID or Hostname
Update your license with a new product key
To update your license with a new product key, follow these steps:
- Download and save the license file and the product key provided on your order summary. For instructions, see the "Serial Number and Product Key" section.
- Follow the instructions to update your multi-user node-locked license after maintenance renewal available on the Origin Lab website.
